cover up where you've been.

the best way to keep on your toes is to take up a bridal job six weeks before you venture out into the big bad world all over again. i always thought i had a more conservative style of designing, but this project was a challenge and a half. stress levels subsided, and i can finally start getting excited about next week :)

 and here's a toast to my last wedding for the year... until we have to do it all again in 2 months time. 

my first wedding gown project out of the way. now this doesn't mean i'm going to venture into bridal, it's actually the last thing i want to do. next year i plan to get back into my own designs again. an inspiration trip around the world may also be on the drawing board for 2012.

once wed.

coincidentally while i am blogging about my recent projects, one of my besties has uploaded her pics from her wedding from last April. lilac/dusty pink seems to be a reoccurring colour. hopefully my next project is black or something. c'mon guys, throw me something less girlie please. cheers.

all in a hard days work.

 ...more like a crazy months worth of work. i know, i know, i need to learn to manage my social life and work time better. the biggest reward in it all is seeing how uber it looks on my clients. the first lilac dress would have to be my stand out of the year. and it doesn't hurt to have a gorgeous girl rocking it out! i had been working round the clock trying to finish off these 10 bridesmaid dresses in the last month or so. and may i say, i am so releaved  it's all over. 

but no rest is for the weary. i must start on my first bridal dress soon, due this December. my last wedding for the year! you guys are killing me with all these weddings haha. but at the end of the day, this is designing...

two down. four more to go. received my large package of fabric for my biggest project to date, ten bridesmaid dresses + my very first wedding dress. the second photo was taken at my bff's wedding earlier this April, she had the most amazing dress. bridal party frocks courtesy of yours truly. 

it's been a long time coming.

my friend has been asking for a birthday dress for years, i hope this was worth the wait. Happy Birthday Deej! x

this is an art attack.

tomorrow is a good day to go shopping, just like every other day. i will be in Surry Hills stocking up on some materials. i am humbled to have been asked to design and create not one but two special outfits for two great maidens for the month of April. one is a regular customer of mine, who i will be making a graduation dress for. and the other a sister of an old high school friend who is celebrating her 21st with a huge party. i've never made a ball gown before, so i'm a bit scared but also excited to get started on it. the Kirrily Johnston sale in on tomorrow, but i don't know if i'll stick around the city for that. i need to save up for that dream boutique of mine...

before so please don't mind the amateur attempt.

today's happenings.

Postman Pat and his black and white cat visited me yesterday and dropped these off! the company i got them made by were really nice and helpful. so if you're on the look out for label manufacturers i recommend using these guys http://www.solisclothinglabels.com.au/

on another note, Miss Vania Emily is turning 20 this Friday, and i get to make her dress for her and her fiance's shindig this Saturday. she wanted a dress similar to the design of a Hussy piece so that is what i created. now the only problem is, what am i going to wear?....

here's the end result from hours of hacking at this dress. it looked soo hott on Jess, too bad she forgot to bring her heels. sexy and chic is all i can say!

t'was a busy day for me in the studio today, first i had a visit from my high school friend Glenda and her two beautiful rugrats. she happily left with two Maiden threads, (she just called me then to put the "kernel bow top" on hold for her!). then after, Thea & co. who came to pick up Tia's formal dress for tomorrow, the girl needs to be persuaded into getting higher heels (i hope Thea succeeds in her mission). and last but not least Jess came by to get her kaftan dress and also to model it for me.

back to black.

i love ruffles. i love pockets. and i absolutely love a black dress with both ruffles and pockets!

this is a dress i made for one of my high school friend's maiden of honor a.k.a her little sister. not a traditional choice of colour for a bridal party dress, but i love it!
