a year in still photographs.

things you can do in a year. this was 2011:

finding heritage | creating new memories | turning 26 | partying & bullshit | making new friends | appreciating old ones | buying your first hectic car | getting inked | building relations in the industry | being persistant in reaching your goals | and then reaping the rewards | doing what you love | learning from your mistakes | to only better your best.

"you should know that i lead, not follow.

girls will be boys.

 it's true, i have a swagger of a boy.

page by page.

off white silk georgette over ivory tulle and satin back crepe | two piece gown.

close enough to start a war.

and here's a toast to my last wedding for the year... until we have to do it all again in 2 months time.
my first wedding gown project out of the way. now this doesn't mean i'm going to venture into bridal, it's actually the last thing i want to do. next year i plan to get back into my own designs again. an inspiration trip around the world may also be on the drawing board for 2012.

check out the zine layout of this shoot here. don't mind the dark morbid mood of the pictures, it's all part of the 'art direction'. weddings are overrated.

my friends, the designers.

i had one of those proud moments today on the way home from work. while flicking through the Mx i spotted a colourful picture of some models in some eye catching frocks, took a closer look and i knew straight away whose designs they belonged to. the black design on the far left is by my good friend Dom Paul Catalano, and the one right up front belongs to a very talented young lady, Annelise Jones. i spent my whole 2009 stressing over assignments and stalking ex crims in lifts with these two crazy kids at TAFE, such fond memories.  and two years down the track i find myself doing my routine skim of the Mx and finally seeing some designs worth publishing! so proud of these kids! x

only for the good looking.

first time i saw one of these clips, i thought to myself, these couples are really well styled. after a few more clicks, i figured out it was an ad campaign for a franco-british label called The Kooples. great idea indeed. i remember having a similar 'couple clothing' concept for my brand proposal back in TAFE. hmph.

fist fights versus fences.

these cut out combat boots need to join my army of shin kickers.
those Balenciaga ones would be great, but i could easily settle for the Jeffrey Campbell pair.

on that note...

i've decided to take the initiative to collage up some window concepts for the AW12 new collection.
it's a long shot, but i enjoy creating these design proposals, even though it probably won't be used.
this consists of many hours of image googling and photoshopping, so best not to take on such project
when you're suppose to be making a wedding dress due in 3 weeks. i work better under pressure,
that, or i like to play 'chicken' with time you see.

i'm not a big fan of ass kissing to get ahead in your career so i will do it my way by making bloody
good visuals to cover up my lack of communication skills. here's to wishful thinking...

it's beginning to look alot like Christmas.

if you haven't already had the chance to pop into our Elizabeth Street DJ's store, come do so. like my new mannequin friends? i do. the Christmas animation windows this year is uber cute.

the bone collector.

i love my skeletal neck and wrist wear as much as i love my waifs.
these bone reproductions are giving me premature heart palpitations!
i, for one cannot wait to get my paws on this collection.

call it vandalism.

i would say ingenious.

i often feature unknown artists on my blog because i want to share the crazy shit my friends come up with to the world wide web. and i don't do this lightly, i will only post up work that i truly back up. in saying that, i'm not quite sure why i have not already done a post about this boy i've known for eighteen years. i found these progress shots on my brother's camera the other day and i was kinda impressed. these are some pieces done by him and his mates.
the brother and i have a love/hate relationship, but at the end of the day i'm always going to be there to lend him money and support his art. plus, he's the one who taught me how to drink and plays the best pranks ever, (but that's a whole other post!). although he was a dropout i've always thought highly of him and what he can achieve. he's one of those individuals that can do anything they put their mind to. seriously, he taught himself how to play the drums and keyboard (via youtube), mastered the camera, fixes and breaks his own bike, draws crap all over the place, and buys uber clothes that i can borrow. he's a talented little shit that is still scared of the dark! haha, some things never change...
