fashion illustrations.

i have now figured out my own signature fashion figures for my design briefs. because i am not well connected with my abstract side, i manipulated my original style of drawing figures, with using more uneven lines and shapes to create shadows without actually shading an area. this is due first day back, c'mmmon good grades!!

so i've been trying to hunt down some info and pics of these two models we worked with on the show today, the two that really stood out and caught my eye, Mak & Mariana - my new favourite fashion figures! so it turns out Makenzie Weinman, 18, is one of the up and coming models ready to hit NY and Mariana Renata Dantec, 26, is a famous Indonesian superstar. hah! and i had the nerves to ask her if she was nervous. i can't find a recent pic of her, but i really did think she maybe had some Japanese in her, she sort of had this manga look to her. oh i'm definately keeping my big eyes out for these two girls.

Dion Lee.

just got back from my first fashion show... had to be at Elizabeth Bay at 6:30 in the morning to help out with the Dion Lee runway show, which was held at a car park in Kings Cross. it felt so surreal. we didn't really get to do much, but the highlight of the day was probably seeing all the commotion backstage. a few minutes before the show started everyone was scrambling to get one last model dressed, and all the things that could go wrong went wrong. her outfit needed to be altered and then the strap on her shoe broke off. it was so stressful just watching them, but somehow in the end everything fell into place with seconds left. i got the easiest outfits to put on. my model Mariana was so beautiful, i hope i get to work with her on one of my own fashion shows in the future! *wishful thinking* we got to watch rehearsel, and may i say Dion Lee, you are a genius. i would love one of his futuresque blazers in my wardrobe this winter.

had one busy weekend, and now i'm having a tiresome monday morning. that purple dress from 2 posts ago looked absolutely gorgeous on my friend, and that is why she is one of the Maidenettes. check her and that dress out here. on this week's agenda... the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week took off today, i'm rostered on for Tuesday and Thursday. hello 7am starts...

on another note, Miss Vania Emily is turning 20 this Friday, and i get to make her dress for her and her fiance's shindig this Saturday. she wanted a dress similar to the design of a Hussy piece so that is what i created. now the only problem is, what am i going to wear?....

Gilmore Girls has to be one of my all time favourite tv shows, and these holidays i will be replaying the box set over and over again...
the best thing in the show of course is the love and hate relationship between Rory Gilmore and Jess Mariano. and although i love the bf very much, Milo Ventimiglia will always be my celebrity crush.

testing, testing 1-2-3...

my cousin came over yesterday to take some photos of my beloved Janome for an assignment. she brought over a couple of lights from uni which we played around with, but couldn't get the settings of the camera quite right. in return i took some photos from my new collection. this was taken on a digital after we gave up on the SLR's. Adobe Lightroom is quite nifty, even though i don't really know how to use it properly. i will be doing a proper shoot when i've made more pieces. and i'm still waiting on my neck tags to come in.

i am officially on holidays from TAFE, a relief if you ask me. things were getting negative and 3 weeks from all that is exactly what i need. one of my friend's had to drop out and won't be joining us next term =(

on the flipside, a devoted Maiden came over today and snatched up the bolero and thistle dress from last season. it looked sooo cute on her! and we discovered that you could wear the dress inside out... genius!
