here is my inspiration board for photography class, just a collection of pictures with interesting concepts, techniques and models i would like to work with. i have an idea of what i want to do for my major work for photography, it will coincide with my catalogue pictures for the label and my idea of doing pre-wed shoots... now to find models...

Mr. Wang, let's be friends?
American designer Alexander Wang has done it again... his S/S10 collection showcased at the New York fashion show received great reviews, being dubbed as NY's most celebrated young designers we expected no less for his latest range. it's an all American sportswear kinda look with the unusual combination of fabric. i feel sometimes American's can be a little too patriotic, but in this case i'm all for it!

give into me.
the Kirrily Johnston sale began this Thursday at Surry Hills, i was meant to work there but i didn't realise i had so much homework to do for Friday. but anyway i was looking through her e-shop and i found these extra uber sandals. my friend who is doing her work experience there said there's a girls version and they retail around $400. so if anyone has 400 buckeroos laying around and would like to donate to a desperate cause, my bank account is wide open =)

1958-2009.
look what i found today on my way to TAFE, a book on the late and great King of Pop. it's still very sad to me. can't wait to see the MJ movie. and Janet's performance/tribute at the VMA's... tear jerker.
also Rest in Peace to Patrick Swayze. i think i will always remember him for his role in Dirty Dancing.

Tailored Society.
a few months ago i received and email from David, a New Yorker who had a dream. him and his colleague Dayton (who both attend Parson's University a design school in NY), were on the lookout for upcoming designers. from there they would start up an online fashion hub showcasing unknown talent from all over the world. an uber idea really! so anyway D asked if i was interested in being a part of the site, and of course it was a definite y.e.s! i was their first international 'designer' they'd ask =D and now they've finally launched the site, TAILOREDSOCIETY.COM check it out, bookmark it, and make sure you keep an eye out for Maiden Threads.

up in smoke.
this is Maiden, no other.
to my surprise, i discovered where all my normal wall posts on the Maiden Threads Facebook page are. i received a post from a fan back in the middle of the year about another upcoming designer trying to launch under the same label name. now, i've been googling the name ever since i came up with it and thus far i had only been finding industrial companies under 'Maiden'. i was going to look into registering the name after i finished TAFE so i could get some info about it from my business teacher, but now i think i should do it even sooner. please if you know who this other designer is, let me know. all this finding out after i've confirmed my tag order, i cannot re-brand now! =(

the Rutt factor.
© is for crazy cool.
we finally got our marks back for all our business assignments this morning, and now it's time to celebrate! i got super awesome marks, very surprising because i'm not too confident with business stuff and writing. my ©opyright assignment which argued that fashion is NOT evolutionary got top marks, so thank you to talented Kelly Smith for allowing me to use her unfortunate Valleygirl situation in my presentation. so hooray for doing your best, and getting what you deserve!

miss M is everyWHERE.
yesterdays' shoot was actually held at the Style Stalker's studio, a Sydney label i've never heard of before but am really curious about. up on their wall was the calling cards of Mariana and Samantha Harris. meaning they had shot in that same place i was standing, possibly for their look book, yaaay! i actually asked one of the girls that was their (she might have been a designer?) and yes Mariana will be on their next catalogue so i can't wait for that to come out! i actually did try to visit Mariana's work on Oxford on Wednesday, but i didn't realize shops opened after 10 on that strip, so no luck for me to get a pic with her. but not to worry, as her popularity is growing here in Oz i have found some more pics of her online. and yes she is in the latest Frankie mag, looove! is stalking legal?
thank god it's friday.
i - am -beat! it has been a busy but fun-filled week for me this week. i got to help out at Minty's for two full days on Wednesday and Thursday, prepping for the shoot on Friday. the shoot was taking place at an old warehouse down at Chippendale, which we had to turn into an 'apartment' for the set. the lookbook has an interesting concept really, don't want to give anything away so we'll all just have to wait for the end result. i wish i came along for the shoot today, but college was in the way. Tanya and Kev would be the coolest bosses. i take my hat off to those who run their own business, from what i've gathered from my work experience it's a bloody hard job! so kudos to you...
