we're doing an assignment about Australian designers/retailers in our Design class, i initially chose to do a study on Mooks, but i found the range to be too simple so i chose to go with Akira instead. i thought it was due tomorrow so i spent all of Monday doing the layout and info, but once again i got the due dates wrong. sat into my first fashion photography lesson this morning, still the basics but i'm excited for what's to come. start work experience at Carla Zampatti next week, so the term's deifintely underway...

my new model muse, Rachel Rutt, who I also featured in my past Dion Lee post alongside Mak and Mariana. her face has been appearing here, there and everywhere after the last RAFW. this 17 year old, Australian/Singaporean babydoll is absolutely adorable right?! these photographs of Rachel in Akira's SS09 collection are just divine, she fits the look so perfectly.

surry hills on a saturday.

i went fabric shopping last Saturday with Ren, i was quite happy with my purchases but terribly annoyed with myself for forgetting my wallet at home. my next collection will be quite exciting - well it is in my head anyway. i have the whole concept planned out, and the designs should follow soon after. my palette is abit earthy and i'm introducing alot more trimmings to it.
this is a top i made my friend for her birthday. it's a khaki cotton sateen top with silk ruffles, i'm liking the different texture of the tussah and dupion silk against the cotton. back to school in 2 days... why oh why.

back to the drawing board.

i took up a project these holidays just to earn some chingalings to fund my fabric addiction. once again i'm working with purple. i think girls should get a new favourite colour, only because Maie is running out of purple thread. this is a surprise gift for someone, the clients had an idea of what they wanted the dress to look like but i had to improvise quite abit because the fabric wasn't suitable for the design. i started off not knowing what i was doing, and frankly i still don't. just making it up as i go, i really need to learn how to use patterns =p. oh yeah that's my new-ish shelf i've been wanting forever but only got a few months ago. fabric shopping tomorrow with a couple of friends, i'm excited!

thanks to my little friend Brookie, i now have pics of the lovely Mariana with her fringe. her calling card had this cool b&w picture of her with one, but i had not been able to find it, but these pics are just as great! here she is sporting an Alice Mcall range, sweet right?

it's holidays for me, but i don't feel relaxed. the craziness of the coming semester is looming over my head, crikey how am i gonna get thru this one?! i was hoping i'd get some sewing done these holidays, but i'm not inspired at the moment. instead i'm preparing my VCR to do some taping for me over night. yes, the MJ memorial service is broadcasting live tomorrow morning from 2:50am. i found some Michael Jackson footages in my old videos yesterday, and it truly broke my heart. also dad found an original video of the 'Making of Thriller' whilst cleaning out the cupboards, classic! listening to 'Separate Lives' from Phil Collins right now, love him too. so anyways, here are three lovely ladies who made my 'bundle of mess' tees look super great! thanks for your support girls!
